Happy Thanksgiving, this coming weekend!
Robert Louis Stevenson writes of the wind:
I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.

O wind, that sings so loud a song.
In Chapter 6 we look at wind – where does it come from? Where is it going? What are its effects on weather?
Related to wind are concepts you have probably heard on the Weather Network: high pressure and low pressure systems.
You will discover that the little swirl of water in the bottom of your bathtub does NOT drain in one direction in the northern hemisphere and a different direction in the southern hemisphere (this is an urban myth … see http://www.snopes.com/science/coriolis.asp).

- Record last week’s readings on Canvas by Tuesday midnight
- Lab 3 is due Tuesday, October 6. This is a Quiz on Canvas. You can take as much time as you like; it is open book; but you do have to do it all in one sitting. Allow about 2 hours for it.
- No discussion post this coming Saturday: Happy Thanksgiving.
- Your midterm exam is Friday, October 23, 6-7 pm, on Canvas. A study guide is here.

- I have posted a one-question “Respondus Test Quiz.” Please download the browser and test your tech well BEFORE the exam to avoid problems.
