A wonderful vision of the new heaven and earth (complete with rivers.):
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse.

Hi,
“A scientific discovery is also a religious discovery. There is no conflict between science and religion. Our knowledge of God is made larger with every discovery we make about the world.” (Joseph Taylor, Jr., who received the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of the first known binary pulsar).
I have always found that to be true in my journey as a scientist, theologian, pastor, and educator.
This week, we’re looking at rivers and streams.
Want a field trip? Head down to the Petitcodiac — check out how the city engineers try to keep the water “on course” and under control during high water times to avoid flooding. Rivers can be devastating.
You should also begin reviewing for the midterm. Your midterm is coming on October 24. A study guide is posted online. Don’t be stressed – start reviewing your notes today and do a bit more review each day until the exam. There are many helpful exam-taking strategies. Read the notes. Rewrite the notes. Quiz yourself. Check with the support services on campus.

This week, please:
- Read online notes 15a/15b and the text Chapter 15
- Lab 3 is due on Wednesday (an extra day since Monday was a holiday). Print it off. Complete it. Scan/photo it and submit it in ONE single PDF file on Moodle by midnight.
- Record your readings from last week on Moodle by Tuesday
- Make a good comment in the discussion forum on Moodle by Saturday midnight. These are easy marks, so please take advantage of them. And it is a great way to get to know your classmates. Please do NOT use AI, like ChatGPT. Grammar and spelling mistakes are OK. I want to get to know you and hear your ideas. Not a computer’s. If it’s not a personal response, you will receive “0.”
- We will have a Zoom meeting on *Thursday, October 15, 6 pm* to help you prepare for the Midterm
- Your midterm exam will be in-person on Campus on Friday, October 23. We have had to reschedule this to 9 am – 11am in MH231. There is no room available that afternoon. A study guide is here. If (and only if) it is ABSOLUTELY impossible for you to write the exam at that time, please let me know ASAP.
